Press Release

Lazuli Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Seigen Hagiwara; hereinafter referred to as Lazuli) will begin joint research in the "2024 ISM (store layout) and Shopper Research Project" conducted by the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation, Distribution Economics Institute of Japan (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Shigehiro Aoyama; hereinafter, the Distribution Economics Institute of Japan).

The Distribution Economics Institute of Japan carries out various research and survey activities for the purpose of broadly contributing to society in the fields of distribution and marketing. One of the projects under its "Themed Study Groups," the "ISM and Shopper Research Project," conducts research with the aim of focusing on changes in consumers and shoppers while understanding the unchanging essence of purchasing behavior. Also, as the core of SMD (Service Merchandiser) research involving manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, it will conduct research into shopper behavior and shopper response, with purchasing behavior surveys (ISM Basic Indicator Survey) and shopping consciousness surveys (Shopper Mind Monitoring Survey) as the main areas, in order to understand shopper behavior and consciousness and study store layout.

At Lazuli, we will provide product data necessary for the research conducted by the Distribution Economics Institute of Japan and carry out joint research with the aim of generating成果 for the ISM and Shopper Research Project. Going forward, we aim to actively utilize data such as product categories, feature tags, and review tags that Lazuli has to clarify the appeal points of products for consumers.
Through joint research by the Distribution Economics Institute of Japan and Lazuli, we will work to improve literacy in consumer-centric product understanding in the distribution industry.

For applications and inquiries regarding the "ISM and Shopper Research Project," which will begin on July 11, 2024, please contact the Secretariat of the SMD (Shopper & Merchandising Joint Research Organization) at the Distribution Economics Institute of Japan, attention: Yamazaki.

<About Lazuli Inc.>
Lazuli is a startup founded in July 2020. Leveraging advanced AI technology, we are developing and providing the SaaS "Lazuli PDP" as a cloud service that allows anyone involved in business, such as those in charge of DX, EC, and marketing, to use product information from around the world. As products are manufactured, distributed, and sold, we work to solve the issues caused by product data that is not smoothly synchronized between companies or even within a company, and by integrating and organizing siloed data in manufacturing and retail, we support DX promotion. We aim to realize a world in which people engaged in business can easily access product information.
