Lazuli PDP Use Case vol.01: Automated Generation of Product Data for E-commerce Site Listings
While enriching product information on e-commerce sites is important, collecting and organizing that data takes effort. In this article, we’ll introduce how to organize product data for e-commerce sites, with examples from the retail industry.
At Lazuli, we are addressing various issues related to product master and product data, including the following.
Automatic generation of data for e-commerce listings
Control and organization of attribute information
Competitive research through web crawling and optimization of our own product sales across each channel
Visualization of theoretical inventory by linking POS data from retailers with shipment data from wholesalers and manufacturers
Improving product information to enhance CX
This time, we introduce “Automatic generation of data for e-commerce listings,” along with a retail industry case study.
The e-commerce and online shopping market expanded rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic and is now indispensable to consumers. In response, many companies, especially manufacturers and retailers, have begun launching e-commerce sites and enhancing their online stores.
However, compared with physical store sales, selling products on e-commerce sites requires richer product information (product data).
For example, in brick-and-mortar sales, consumers can see the product itself and directly grasp its color, shape, weight, and other details, and can learn about ingredients and other information from what is printed on the packaging. On e-commerce sites, however, that information must be registered as product data. In addition, while color variations and size variations can be displayed together in stores, grouping is required in order to show them as related products on an e-commerce site. Moreover, because in-store service from sales staff is difficult to replicate on e-commerce sites, descriptions of product features and selling points, as well as catch copy, are also important.
However, the preparation of such product data is often scattered across multiple places both inside and outside the company, so prior work is needed before it can be used—starting from collecting the information in the first place and reconciling notation differences such as “blue” and “Blue.” Many companies also handle these tasks manually, which takes enormous amounts of time and effort and leaves little time for utilizing the data itself, creating such challenges.
That is why Lazuli PDP addresses this challenge by collecting and centrally managing product information scattered across multiple external databases on the web, and automatically generating the information needed for e-commerce sites.

In one example, Company A, which operates an e-commerce site, was advancing product data preparation manually while offering a wide range of products, and improving the productivity of product listing operations had become a challenge.
By introducing Lazuli PDP and reflecting product information that is automatically collected, processed, and generated using AI on the e-commerce site, the company is efficiently building a convenient e-commerce site.
Because Lazuli PDP includes data collected by Lazuli's proprietary crawling technology, it can automatically obtain product information published online, organize it into the appropriate format, and reflect it on the e-commerce site.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, as the use of e-commerce sites has accelerated, organizing product information has become essential, and the quality of that information has become even more important. Lazuli PDP contributes to enriching product information on e-commerce sites through AI-based deduplication and name matching functions, as well as automatic generation functions for product names, catch copy, and descriptions.
